The Department of Civil Engineering has organized the training on Drone Mapping and Surveying on 12th, 16th, 19th and 23rd of Falgun, 2079 for eighth semester students of civil engineering.
The training on Drone Mapping and Surveying was aimed at providing a comprehensive understanding of using a drone for engineering survey to the students of final year. The training duration for a group was planned for 5 hours spreading over two days. The main objectives of the training were to introduce participants to the principles and fundamentals of drone surveying and mapping; teach participants how to plan a drone survey mission, including flight paths, altitudes, and camera settings; provide hands-on practice on flying drones and collecting data; provide hands-on practice on processing of the captured data on image processing software and web-based platform; train participants about different forms of outputs obtained from image processing platform and their use in engineering.
The training focused on imparting students with practical skills (with hands on data capturing and processing sessions) and preparing the students for responsible and compliant use of this technology in their future careers. The training was conducted by lecturer Er. Bibek Thapa.
