The Department of Architecture organized a five-day educational tour for second-semester architecture students on the "History of Nepalese Architecture" from the 6th to the 10th of Falgun, 2079. The tour aimed to provide the students with a better understanding of the different types of vernacular architecture in Nepal and their unique features. Ar. Rabina Shilpakar and Ar. Pramila Silpakar, two faculty members, accompanied 42 students on the tour.
The tour began with a visit to Kasara, Chitwan, where the students explored the gharial conservation and breeding center, Tharu villages, and witnessed Tharu cultural dances. The following days included visits to bamboo model projects, Pokhara, Devis Falls, Ghandruk, and Bandipur, where they studied different types of vernacular architecture.
The tour aimed to showcase the unique features of different vernacular architectures in Nepal and the need to preserve and document them for future generations. The students learned about different construction techniques, lifestyles, and cultures of the people living in different areas of Nepal. Overall, the tour was an enriching and educational experience for the students.
