The Department of Electronics and Communication has organized Wireless and Telecommunication field excursions for eighth semester (2074 Batch) students on 14th Baisakh in NTC Babarmahal. The field visit was led by Er. Ganesh Ram Dhonju and Er Naresh Khatri are corresponding subject teachers of Wireless Communication and Telecommunication. The field visit was about the study of present techniques and technology of wireless communication used in our country. The main objective of this visit was to visualize the actual working mechanism of wireless communication that was studied in the subject course.
The students visited the BTS (Base Transceiver System) located on the top of the building. A base transceiver station (BTS) is a piece of equipment that facilitates wireless communication between a mobile station (MS) and a network. It sends and receives radio signals to mobile devices and converts them to digital signals that it passes on the network to route to other terminals in the network or to the Internet. It contains the equipment for transmitting and receiving radio signals (transceivers), antennas, and equipment for encrypting and decrypting communications with the Base Station Controller (BSC). BTS receive the RF signals and convert them into baseband signals and forward them to BSC.
From this field visit students are able to visualize how wireless communication works, technological transformation and enhancement in communication, future development (5G Network) etc. Overall the visit was successfully completed fulfilling its objectives.
