Chairman of Nepal Workers and Peasants' Party Narayan Man Bijukchhen inaugurated a special program organized to mark the 20^th Annual Day of Khwopa Engineering College and the 13^th Annual Day of Khwopa College of Engineering on Wednesday, Mangsir 15, 2078 in the presence of distinguished guests, faculty, staff, students, and recent graduates. Chairman Bijukchhen said that students should focus on the study with the rationale of serving the people and country by broadening the horizon of their knowledge and concentration. He remarked one should be informed that there has been an attempt to keep the intellectuals out of touch with politics. “But in reality, there is need of such intellectual politicians who would selflessly serve the country”, he said.

Chairman Bijukchhen also advised the graduates and students to be conscious of political philosophies, adopt the good ones for the sake of individuals and country in long run and avoid the bad philosophies.

Senior leader Bijukchhen opined that according to Marxist theory, eventually the Capitalist System will collapse and proletariats will prevail.

Secretary of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party and Member of Federal Parliament, Prem Suwal stated that the principal objective of founding the seven “Khwopa” institutions was to intellectualize the society. He also informed the audience that a bill (Vidheyak) regarding Khwopa University has already been registered at the parliament for establishment of the Khwopa University, along with a medical college.

MP Suwal expressed that parties in the government are hell-bent to validate MCC from the parliament and render Nepal as a neo-colony of India. Meanwhile, Nepal Workers and Peasants Party has been staging countrywide protest programs to aware the ordinary people about pros and cons of the MCC agreement.

At the same program, Mayor Sunil Prajapati, Chairman of College Management Committee, said that Bhaktapur Municipality is running these academic institutions to provide quality and affordable education and to prepare eligible citizens for 21^st century. Mayor Prajapati spell out his belief that the graduates of engineering college will assist in realizing the objectives of their colleges by serving the country and people in nook and corner of the country. He further said that the technical manpower has an important role to play in development process, and therefore should be aware not to work, in tune with contractor for financial gain only which will result in poor quality of infrastructures.

Member of Provincial Parliament of Bagmati, Surendra Raj Gosain mentioned both engineering colleges are outstanding colleges of the country, and all the academic institutions run by Bhaktapur Minicipality are growing as academic destinations. MPP Gosain also articulated the contributions of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party to building political, cultural and economic identity of Khwopa, and advised new generation to learn from history.

Deputy Mayor Rajani Joshi, Vice-Chairperson of Management Committee, voiced Bhaktapur Municipality has been making continued efforts for the establishment of Khwopa University. Deputy Mayor Joshi opined education is the main basis for development and the municipality has been striving to widen the people's access to education.

Prof. Dr. Devi Prasad Bhattarai detailed the activities executed by Purbanchal University at present and mentioned that Khwopa Engineering College is the first community based engineering college of the country.

Er. Shiwa Mangal Giri, Registrar of Nepal Engineering Council appreciated the results of students at both colleges and also expressed his commitment on behalf of the council to help in promoting the quality of professional practices of engineers.

Chief District Officer of Bhaktapur, Rudradevi Sharma expressed her appreciation and satisfaction that colleges run by Bhaktapur Municipality has provided quality education at affordable fee and the graduates of Khwopa are competitive in every sector in the field.

Chief Executive Officer of Bhaktapur Municipality Ramlal Shrestha put forth that the municipality has been advancing by prioritizing education, health and heritage conservation to substantiate the concept of 'Bhaktapur after a Hundred Years' in practice. He stressed that Bhaktapur Municipality has been delivering education loan at a subsidized interest rate to students of the municipality to facilitate their higher education.

Er. Sujan Maka, Principal of Khwopa Engineering College, and Er. Sunil Duwal, Principal of Khwopa College of Engineering, both presented annual progress report of the respective colleges.

The annual day of the colleges was also marked by felicitating the three veteran personalities, in the field of masonry, woodcraft and stone craft, namely Ram Chandra Awal, Laxmi Bhakta Rajchal, and Kaji Ram Ranjitkar, respectively, for their outstanding contribution to heritage conservation in their respective fields. Chief guest Chairman Bijukchhen presented them with appreciation certificate. Likewise, 22 faculty and staff were also felicitated for their 10 years’ service at the college. Prizes and Certificates were also distributed to the winners of Basketball Competition, Oratory Competition, Poem Competition, Quiz Competition, etc. organized on the occasion of anniversary of two colleges. The day of celebration was closed with typical cultural presentations and performances by the students of both colleges.
