On 16th of Bhadra 2081, Sunday (1st September 2024), Department of Architecture in collaboration with Society of Nepalese Architects (SONA) successfully accomplished an orientation programme on “PROFFESSIONAL PRACTICE AND JOB MARKET IN NEPAL”. The softskill training was provided to the recent graduates of B. Architecture 075 batch. On behalf of SONA, Ar. Abhishek Mananda Bajracharya (Co-founder, Tattva Consult Pvt. Ltd, Deputy General Secretary, Society of Nepalese Architects, 15th Executive Committee) and Ar. Akriti Rimal (Architect-Ministry of Urban Development, Federal Secretariat Construction and Management office) delivered their presentation to students. The event was further intriguing by the participation of president of SONA, Ar. Ishwor Lal Joshi, and vice president, Ar. Dilli Ram Sapkota, as well as faculties from the Department of Architecture at Khwopa Engineering College.
Ar. Abhisekh Mananda Bajracharya explicated his architectural career, from student to private practice to the present. He highlighted the necessity of practicing architecture for at least two to three years under an established firm before establishing one's own practice immediately after graduating from B.Arch. His passion for architecture must have influenced students and pushed them to carry forward despite all the difficulties. Ar. Akriti Rimal focused on informing students about the opportunities for architects in the government sector. She highlighted the application and preparation processes, as well as familiarized websites where government announcements and opportunities may be found. In addition, she explained the role of an architect and nature of work to be handled by an architect in government sector. Ar. Dilliram Sapkota emphasized opportunities in the academic sector. He energized students to endure professional ethics and explicated progression and circumstances of working in team in professional field.
Similarly, Ar. Ishwor Lal Joshi inspired students via his architectural journey and encouraged them to uncover their own capabilities since he believeseach student had unique characteristics and talents. In overall, the programme was an eye opening event to recent graduates which must have steered a direction to future. Lastly, the programme ended by handing over token of love to all speakers by Ar. Archana Bade Shrestha, Head, Department of Architecture.
